Core Server and Client Packages:

The 6.5.5 Release Updates listed below requires 6.5 GA be installed before installation. The release updates are cumulative and do not require the application of the previous release update. For example, a customer running 6.5.GA can apply the 6.5.5 release updates directly, there is no need to apply 6.5.1/6.5.2 in order to move to the 6.5.5 level.  To obtain 6.5 GA, please refer to the 'Obtaining Licensing and Installation Media' technote:    http://support.veritas.com/docs/308850

For 6.5.5, some Agents/Options have not been updated with new code and are not distributed with this release update.  These situations require the Agent/Option to fall back to the latest patch available if it is not available for 6.5.5.  For example, a UNIX client running Oracle should be updated with the NetBackup 6.5.5 client package (NB_CLT_6.5.5.tar), but since there is no Oracle Agent update for 6.5.5, the 6.5.4 Oracle Agent update (NB_ORA_6.5.4.tar) is to be applied.  The latest 6.5.x package is referenced in this document.

LIVEUPDATE:

The NetBackup 6.5.4 LiveUpdate containers include all the files distributed as part of NetBackup 6.5.4. This allows customers to use LiveUpdate to populate their local LiveUpdate server with all files required to upgrade to 6.5.4. When a LiveUpdate policy is launched to upgrade to 6.5.4, the local host that is targeted for the update determines what set of files is required automatically.  LiveUpdate Policies can be scheduled for specific clients to maximize NetBackup deployment.
