How to restore individual Public Folder data from a Granular Recovery Technology enabled backup of Exchange 2007 Information Store.
Details:
Please Note:
Individual Public Folder
data for an Exchange 2007 Information Store GRT backup can be done only under
the following conditions:
A. The Exchange 2007 Information Store was
backed up directly to disk.
B. The backup of Information Store on
disk was duplicated to tape using the Backup Exec "duplicate backup" feature.
Exchange 2007 GRT backup targeted directly to tapes will not allow restores of
individual public folder data.
If a direct backup to disk backup set or
duplicate backup to tape backup set is available, then the individual public
folder data can be restored using the steps mentioned below.
1)
Ensure that the Exchange backups are taken to disk using the Granular Restore
Technology (GRT) and then duplicated to tapes.
2) Create a new restore
job and expand the Public Folder database under the Information Store backup set
(tape or disk) . Select the public folder items that need to be
restored.
3) If Exchange redirect restore option is used then enter
correct Server name and Public folder name where the data needs to be restored
as shown in Figure 1 or else skip this step.

4) Then enter
the correct path for temporary staging the database as shown in Figure
2.

5) Start the restore job. In case of a duplicate backup set on tape, the
restore process will first stage the Public Folder database at the location
provided in step 4.
6) After the staging is completed the selected
resources should be restored to the required location.
