"Event ID 65313: Backup Exec" appears in the Event Viewer Application Log when a Backup job is targeted to tape.

Exact Error Message
The tape cartridge has reached the end of its useful life.

Details:

The following Event ID is logged in the Event Viewer Application Log when a backup job targeted to a tape begins (Figure 1).

A Tape alert warning is also displayed in the Backup Exec console under the Alerts tab (Figure 2).

EXPLAINATION:

1.  The tape cartridge that is being used for backup job is defective.

2.  The tape cartridge is very old / worn out.

ACTION REQUIRED:

Discard the old tape and use another known good tape cartridge which is recommended by the hardware manufacturer for the backup job. Run a quick erase on the tape first, attempt to run another backup, and if the alert still occurs, contact the hardware manufacturer of the tape device for further assistance.
