How to grant the Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV) Vault Service Account (VSA) the correct permissions On Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
Details:
On Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft
Exchange 2000 Server
- Click
Start > Programs > Microsoft Exchange > System Manager.
- Expand
the Servers container.
- Right-click
the Exchange Server and, on the shortcut menu, click Properties.
- Click
the Security tab.
- Click
Add.
- Double-click
the Vault Service account to add it to the list.
- Click
OK to go back to the Security tab. The Vault Service account has
been added to the Name list.
- In
the Name list, click the Vault Service account.
- In
the Permissions list, confirm that all check boxes in the Allow
column are selected. Select any check boxes that are not already
selected.
- Click
OK.
Assigning the permissions at Organization or
Administrative Group level
Note: If required, it
is possible to add the permissions at the Organization or Administrative Group
level in the Exchange hierarchy. This will enable the permissions to be
propagated automatically to any new Exchange Servers added below the level at
which the permissions are assigned.
To assign the permissions
at Organization or Administrative Group level (Exchange 2000 or
2003)
- Enable
the display of the Security page by configuring the ShowSecurityPage
registry setting (See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 883381 under
Acknowledgements).
- In
the left-hand pane of Microsoft Exchange, System Manager,
right-click the Exchange Organization or the Administrative group in question,
and select Properties.
- Select
the Security tab and set the required permissions for the Vault Service
account, as described in the steps for individual Exchange
Servers.
