Exchange
2007 database backup using the GRT feature to tape fails with the above error
even though the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data
Objects (MAPICDO) package is installed on the server. The same backup job when
targeted to disk completes with a similar exception message as mentioned above.
The Backup
Exec remote agent debug log on the exchange server reports the following

Activation Context failed for C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\Backup
Exec\RAWS\x86\Remsrv.exe. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is
not installed on your system.
Reason:
The above
mentioned errors can occur if the Exchange server does not have the 32-bit
Visual Studio Runtime Libraries installed on it. The Remsrv.exe is a
32bit process which requires the 32bit version of the runtime libraries.
Workaround:
To workaround
this problem, install the Visual Studio Runtime libraries from Microsoft at the
following link:
