How to determine that synchronization has completed successfully for all mailboxes.
Details:
Enterprise Vault (EV) maintains a list of all the mailboxes
that are on the Exchange Servers assigned to the Mailbox Archiving
Tasks. Once the Provisioning Task is run and the Mailboxes are added to
the list, the Synchronization process will update the individual hidden message
in each enabled mailbox with and Policy changes.
By default, automatic
synchronization is performed by the Task twice a day, once in the AM (12am) and
once in the PM (12pm). Even though this is performed regularly, sometimes
it is necessary to perform a manual synchronization due to changes to the Policy
that must take effect immediately.
Since there are no Informational
Events that return a confirmation as to when a Synchronization is complete,
below are steps that show the process and how to confirm a manual
Synchronization is completed.
1. In the designated Exchange Mailbox
Archiving Task properties, select the Synchronization tab.
2. Under the
Synchronization tab, select either 'All mailboxes' or 'Selected
mailboxes'.
a. If 'All mailboxes' is selected, when the
Synchronize button is selected, the Progress area will show that the job is
'Queued'.
b. If 'Selected mailboxes' is selected, when
the Synchronize button is selected, an addition option will be available to
select individual mailboxes.
3. Monitor
results
a. If 'All mailboxes' was selected, in order to
monitor the progress of the Synchronization Job, open Message Queuing
(MSMQ)
i. Open Computer Management and
Message Queuing => Private
Queues
ii. The Synchronization process will
be managed by the Enterprise Vault Exchange Task for <ExchangeServerName>
A6 Queue (for Enterprise Vault 2007 and earlier) or A7 Queue (for Enterprise
Vault 8.0 and later).
iii. Once the A6 or
A7 Queue has returned to 0 items, the Synchronization process has
completed.
Notes:
- MSMQ does not
automatically refresh and a manual refresh is required to monitor the
progress.
- For additional details regarding MSMQ
and the individual Private Queues utilized by EV, see the Administrators
Guide.
b. If 'Selected mailboxes' was selected, a
pop-up will show the real time progress of the synchronization of each mailbox
selected.
Note: It is possible to select all mailboxes on the list
in order to synchronize all mailboxes and be provided with a real time progress
of synchronization job.
