Details:
The backup of Virtual Machine(s) (VM) hosted on a
VMWare ESX server will fail with the above error when the VM(s) are selected
under the VMWare ESX server in the backup selections. Backup may complete
successfully if the VM(s) are selected through the Virtual Center server in the
Backup Selections.
Cause:The System Logon Account is not
configured in the Backup Exec console.
Resolution:1. In
the Backup Exec console, click on the Network - Logon Accounts menu.
2.
Click on System Account and enter credentials of the user account which is to be
used as the Default Account in Backup Exec (Figure 1)

3. Set the
System Logon Account as the Default Account in Backup Exec.
Run the
backup of the VM now and it should complete successfully.
Please note
that to browse the ESX server an account with ROOT equivalent permissions on the
ESX server should be used.
