The default BEMCMD backup script entries to backup Exchange resources inserts invalid selections into the selection list script for Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers.

Details:
An Exchange 2003/2007 backup script submitted by the Backup
Exec BEMCMD command line utility fails when submitted using the default backup
script options for Exchange resources.
In the Backup Exec 12.5
BEMCMD documentation on Page (149-151) the instructions indicate to enter
the following for Exchange resource
selections:
[Selections]
EXCHANGE1=exchange_server_name
EXCH2ROOT1=exchange_server_name
EXCH2SG1=First
Storage Group
EXCH2ROOT2=exchange_server_name
EXCH2SG2=Second Storage
Group
The above backup scripts lines creates a selection list viewed
in text view as:
\\exchange_server_name\Microsoft Exchange
Directory\*.* /SUBDIR
\\exchange_server_name\Microsoft Exchange
Information Store\*.* /SUBDIR
\\exchange_server_name\Microsoft
Information Store\First Storage Group\*.*
/SUBDIR
\\exchange_server_name\Microsoft Information Store\Second Storage
Group\*.* /SUBDIR
The first two lines of the selection list are not
valid for Exchange 2003 and 2007 resources.
The BEMCMD backup job if
submitted will fail with the following error:

The default BEMCMD backup script
provided on the Backup Exec installation media (\WINNT\UTILS\bjscript.txt)
documents the following command listed below. This default script entries
for Exchange resources also creates the invalid selection list for
Exchange 2003 and 2007 server backups selections.

WORKAROUND:
Edit
the backup script or bjscript.txt per the BEMCMD admin guide (Page 150-151) and
comment out the "EXCHANGE1=" entry and add the following line listed
below:

EXCH2ROOT1=exchange_server_name
EXCH2SG1=First
Storage Group
EXCH2ROOT2=exchange_server_name
EXCH2SG2=Second Storage
