III. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

1) Download NB_JAV_6.5.3_<6 digit number>.tar into the /tmp directory.

where <6 digit number> is an internal tracking identifier

2) Extract NB_JAV_6.5.3_<6 digit number>.tar
/bin/tar -xvf NB_JAV_6.5.3_<6 digit number>.tar

This will create the files:
NB_update.install
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.README
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.postinstall
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.postuninstall

IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=============================
** The content of this online Readme supersedes the information in the Readme
contained in the download. **

NOTE: Click on the "Download Now" link, near the bottom of this document
prior to running the following installation procedure for this Release Update.

1) Close the NetBackup user interfaces.
- Make sure the NetBackup server has no active jobs running (for example,
backups, restores, or duplications).

- If a database agent is being used, such as Oracle, ensure that the database
services are stopped.

For LOCAL installs:

As root ONLY on Solaris, HP-UX, HP-UX-IA64, Linux, Alpha or RS6000
NetBackup Master/Media/Client machine:

2) Install the Release Update binaries.

cd /tmp
/bin/sh NB_update.install

Note: The subject matter on the second line of this README with
the keyword "Deleted" causes NB_update.install
to delete a file if it exists. It is used exclusively by the
NB_update.install script for install purposes
only and requires no actions from the user.

For REMOTE installs:

As root on all NetBackup Master/Media Servers:

2) Install the Release Update binaries.

cd /tmp
/bin/sh NB_update.install

3) Update any NetBackup clients that use the NetBackup Java applications.

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/update_clients

V. UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
=========================
Note: This will ONLY uninstall the Release Update from your local machine.

As root:

1) Close the NetBackup user interfaces.

Make sure the NetBackup server has no active jobs running (for
example, backups, restores, or duplications).

If a database agent is being used, such as Oracle,
ensure that the database services are stopped.

2) Change directory to the patch save directory.
Substitute the Release Update name for ${PACK} in the following command:

cd /usr/openv/pack/${PACK}/save

3) Run the un-install script:

./NB_update.uninstall

4) Verify that the Release Update uninstalled successfully by checking
/usr/openv/pack/pack.history.

5) If update_clients was run after the Release Update was originally
INSTALLED, and the Release Update is successfully UNINSTALLED, run:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/update_clients

6) If necessary, restart the NetBackup and Media Manager daemons:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all

The Release Update install logs can be found in /usr/openv/pack/pack.history
once the installation is complete.

NetBackup Service Layer (NBSL) service using PBX if the primary hostname

If you encounter this issue, use the FIREWALL_IN option in the nbj.conf
file on NetBackup-Java Administration Console host.

Description:
An error would occur if you select a directory to restore and the name
of the directory contained an & (ampersand) character in it. You would
receive an Invalid Character error.

Backups of directories that have an & (ampersand) character in the name
would perform okay. However, when these directories are selected in
either the NetBackup-Java Administration Console or the Windows
Administration Console, an error would still occur.

In addition, directories that have an & (ampersand) character in the
name can be restored in full, but you are unable to enter the directories
to select individual sub-directories or files within.

Activity Monitor job display to include a new column that shows the reason
why a job is queued and in a waiting state. In addition, some of the
information that is displayed in the new column is available by using the
job details.
