Backup Selection for Virtual Machines located on Windows Server 2008 returns the error " Not selectable for backup because this Shadow copy component Writer is currently not supported "

Details:
When attempting to select Virtual Machines on Windows 2008 in the Backup Selections Window using Backup Exec fro Windows Servers version 12.x or lower, the following error might occur:
"Not selectable for backup because this Shadow copy component Writer is currently not supported." (Figure 1)

Solution:
Upgrade to Backup Exec 12.5 or higher
For more information on what applications are supported with Backup Exec, please review the Software Compatibility List for the version of Backup Exec that is installed.
