Details:
During a legacy mailbox backup, ensure that job logs are
set to show Summary information, directories and files processed; at the
conclusion of the job, all of a particular user's contacts fail to be backed up
and the Contacts folder itself returns an Access is denied:
Folder
John Doe [johndoe]?Top of Information Store?Contacts
V-79-57344-33928
- Access is denied.
This entry will be followed by a list of all of the
contacts of the user in question, each of which will have failed to be backed up
with Access denied and will have been identified as a corrupt
file:
Access

A subsequent debug (see related documents) on the
Exchange server of the backup job will have entries like this:

MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED.
To test this, from Outlook, export a small sampling
of contacts to VCard files (VCF), delete those contacts from Outlook, then
import them anew back into Outlook. Perform a new legacy backup of that same
small sampling; if this backup succeeds, this procedure will need to be done on
all remaining contacts.
