This deliverable provides an update to Veritas NetBackup (tm) 6.5.2
proliferation of the Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

I. Problem Summary
==================

Cannot install NetBackup 6.5.2 to a Macintosh computer running
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). This issue affects PowerPC- and Intel-based
machines with Mac OS X 10.5.

NetBackup 6.5.2 is a patch release that is meant to upgrade an existing
6.5.x installation. Attempting to locally install NetBackup 6.5 on a client
running Mac OS X 10.5 will fail. For more information about this issue and

II. Solution
============

Use a stand-alone installer for Mac OS X 10.5 if all NetBackup servers are
on Windows platforms. Note, that the installer requires administrative
privileges to run and must be run from this command line. If your environment
contains UNIX or Linux servers, you can push to a Mac OS X 10.5 client from
them. Refer again to the following TechNote on the Symantec Support Web site.

III. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

+ NetBackup 6.5.2 is a patch release that is meant to upgrade an existing
6.5.x installation. Attempting to locally install NetBackup 6.5 on a client
running Mac OS X 10.5 will fail. For more information about this issue and
how to work-around it, refer to the following TechNote on the Symantec

The following procedure installs the NetBackup client software on a local
Mac OS X 10.5 client.

Note: The gzip and the gunzip commands must be installed on each system.
The directories where the commands are installed must be part of the
root user¿s PATH environment variable setting.

1) Download NB_MAC_6.5.2_<6 digit number>.tar.gz into the /tmp directory of
the intended Mac OS X 10.5 client.

where <6 digit number> is an internal tracking identifier

2) You must log on as root.

3) Extract the binary using the following command:
gunzip -c NB_MAC_6.5.2_<6 digit number>.tar.gz | tar xvf -

This will create the following directory: NB_6.5.2_MAC10.5_20080514

4) Change directories to the following directory:
cd NB_6.5.2_MAC10.5_20080514

5) Enter the following command to execute the installation script:
./install

6) Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
