Symantec Enterprise Vault support for Microsoft Outlook 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and Outlook 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Details:
Symantec provides partial support for the Enterprise Vault (EV) Outlook Add-In (aka EV Client) running with Outlook 2003 SP3 or Outlook 2007 SP1 for all versions of the EV Client from the 6.0 base release upwards.

The use of Outlook 2007 SP1 on an Enterprise Vault server is NOT supported.  The use of Outlook 2003 SP3 on an Enterprise Vault server is supported with Microsoft hotfix 948073 applied and the AttachmentMax and RecipientMax registry values described in Microsoft KB948074.      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948073 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948074

Known Issues

An issue present within Microsoft Outlook 2003 SP3 or Outlook 2007 SP1 may cause errors (as detailed below) when an item contains 2048 (or more) recipients in any of the TO, CC or BCC field OR 2048 (or more) attachments.

1.  Clicking the 'View the original item" link in an Enterprise Vault shortcut, when Enterprise Vault is set to display items within Outlook, may fail and result in the following error:

[The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem.  Restart Outlook and try again.  If the problem persists, please reinstall]

2.  Opening an Enterprise Vault shortcut within Outlook by way of a double click may cause the following notice to be displayed in the item banner:

[There was an error opening this item - some functionality may not be available]

3.  Attempting to view an item via the Integrated Search (within Outlook) may fail with the following error:

[This item could not be downloaded. [OIOM]]

4.  Viewing a message via the Enterprise Vault Browser search may fail with the following error:

[Could not show this item.]

5.  When Enterprise Vault Offline Vault attempts to cache the item, the following error may occur:

[Some items failed to download.  Double-click items in the 'Prioritize items to download' list for details]

Resolution

Symantec plans to address this issue by way of an update within a later release of Symantec Enterprise Vault.
