Backups of remote Exchange Server 2007 fail with VSS error "One or more databases is currently dismounted.." unless only the active copy is backed up
Exact Error Message
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FF02): One or more of the databases for this storage group are currently dismounted. This backup is incomplete. Make sure that all databases are mounted, and then resubmit the backup job. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

Details:
When backing up a remote Exchange Server 2007 to disk or tape; a Snapshot Provider error is encountered as mentioned above.

Workaround:

Back up from the active copy.

Solution:

Upgrade to Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers.
