"Error 1863: Not enough Disk Space" occurs when attempting to run LiveUpdate, even though there is plenty of free Hard Disk Space available

"Error 1863: Not enough Disk Space"

Details:
If LiveUpdate fails immediately with error "Error 1863: Not enough Disk Space", look for the following in the log.liveupdate

10/25/2007, 15:17:32 GMT -> EVENT - SESSION END FAILED EVENT - The LiveUpdate session ran in Express Mode. LiveUpdate found 0 updates available, of which 0 were installed and 0 failed to install. The LiveUpdate session exited with a return code of 1863, LiveUpdate needs to save a file, but there is not enough free disk space. Please free up disk space on your computer and run LiveUpdate again.

After confirming the above shows in the log, perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Confirm that TCP Ports 21, 80, and 443 are open.
2. Remove the read only attribute of the settings.liveupdate file.
3. Add the following entries under the Hosts\2 portion of the settings.liveupdate file to set FTP as the profile for LU (HTTP is used by default)
HOSTS\2\PASSWORD:ENC=L"`';1^I=[DC(%+!24M?+A
HOSTS\2\PROFILE\0=FTP
HOSTS\2\SUBNET=0.0.0.0
HOSTS\2\SUBNETMASK=0.0.0.0
HOSTS\2\TYPE=FTP
HOSTS\NUM_HOSTS=3
HOSTS\SET_PROFILE=FTP
4. Run Live Update and it should function properly.
