Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer.

After an upgrade to Backup Exec 11d or 12.x from a
previous version of Backup Exec, the backup of the local server fails with the
following error (Figure 1):

When the
properties page of the backup job is checked, there are two entries for the
local server: one with System State selected and another with the rest of the
other resources (Figure 2):

Cause:In Backup Exec 11d, the System State selection
has been separated from Shadow Copy components selection and is displayed as a
separate resource. In previous versions of Backup Exec, System State selection
was a part of the Shadow Copy Components resource.
Resolution:To resolve this error perform either of the
following solutions:
Solution 1:1) Within the Backup Exec
console go to the
Job Setup section.
2) Edit the Selection List of the
affected job.
3) Deselect the System State and reselect it.
4) Submit the
job.
Solution 2:
Delete the
existing backup job and create a new job.
