error, Vault now aborts the session with the Vault error code for notify
script failure (272).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET617599
Description:
Vault's Media Going Offsite reports would not count images that span media
correctly. Instead of being counted just once, such images and their sizes
were being added for the number of media spanned.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET777228
Description:
Changes were added to reduce the peak memory consumption during an
Iron Mountain Reports generation.

=============
Etrack Incident = ET492556
Description:
Under some circumstances (such as network issues), Vault can start a
new bpduplicate job before the previous bpduplicate job (for a given
storage unit pair) completes. This caused drive contention between the
old and new bpduplicate jobs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET427374
Description:
The Vault report eject failed, however, the tapes were ejected (TLM robot).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET495249
Description:
Eject for all vaults (consolidated) no longer fails with an error 293 when
there are mixed media types.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET511740
Description:
The vlteject function would fail with the following error when tapes were
taken out of the map after long period of time elapsed.
"vmchange eject verify not responding[300]"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET493835
Description:
Vault would not put tapes to the wrong volume group if volume database
host was different from the robotic control host while running a Vault
session.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET513931
Description:
After upgrading to AIX 5.2 ML5, if the locale was set to non "C", Vault
would not function properly as volume_full.list consists of a thousand
separator entries for date entries. This fix included in this pack puts
the correct date values in volume_full.list file enabling Vault to
function properly.
Workaround:
To avoid this issue, change the system locale to "C".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET510677
Description:
The user interface no longer fails to display Vault Reports in a localized
NetBackup installation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET538177 ET538162 ET537511 ET537528 ET537537 ET537474 ET537520
ET537557 ET537414 ET542504
Description:
Multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities have been identified in daemons
that run on Veritas NetBackup master, media, and client servers. An
attacker, if able to access a vulnerable Veritas NetBackup server and
successfully exploit these issues, could potentially execute arbitrary
code resulting in possible unauthorized and elevated privilege access to
the targeted system.
For more information about this vulnerability, refer to TechNote 281521 on
the Symantec Support Web site (
http://support.veritas.com/docs/281521 ).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET542302
Description:
The Offsite Inventory report now contains the REQUESTED field for tapes
that have been requested.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET543624
Description:
No reports were generated when the eject exit status was 306. This was a
change in behavior from NetBackup 5.1MP2 onwards.
Additional Notes:
This change also ensures that the correct media ID is displayed for the
media being ejected. However, it does not show all the media IDs that
are supposed to be ejected.

NB_VLT_51_4_M
=============
Etrack Incident = ET380107
Description:
The Vault reports eject failed, however the tapes were still ejected.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET409984 ET348174
Description:
The following modifications have been made to Vault's Iron Mountain Reports:
1) The date is now displayed starting in the 91st column (instead of 89).
2) The Inventory Section ('I') now includes only Vaulted Media (not
Recalled media).
3) The section footers now include the number of media reported in
respective sections.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET406200 ET405465
Description:
Vault Iron Mountain Reports should not include un-ejected media in the
Distribution ('D') section.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET395031

When performing Media Manager-directed eject operations using an ACS type
robot, a timeout may occur if the ACSLS server that controls the robot is
slow to respond.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET411779 ET399523
Description:
Vault's Recovery Report included redundant information if the NetBackup
installation vaulted multiplexed backup images. Vault used excessive memory
during the Report generation and distribution phase.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET304360
Description:
The NetBackup Vault 5.x report file names no longer contain the sessionID.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET315681
Description:
NetBackup Vault post-eject reports no longer produced if there were no
tapes to eject.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET304487
Description:
The NetBackup Vault consolidated eject or report would fail because of an
obsolete vlteject.mstr reference.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET413441
Description:
You will see informative messages being displayed by vltopmenu while
running eject/inject operations for a selected Vault session that you
would see by running vltinject/vlteject commands on the command prompt for
that Vault session.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET416459 ET416260
Description:
Vault Eject jobs initiated from the command line or vltopmenu on Windows
did not provide updates on the console during the job.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET415503 ET411347

Changes were made to ensure primary and non-primary source images on disk
are sorted correctly for duplication. In addition, changes were made to
avoid the creation of extra duplication jobs.
================================================================================
=============
NB_VLT_51_3_M
=============
Etrack Incident = ET275116
Description:
With the Vault option installed on a UNIX Master server, the Vault user was
unable to eject Deferred Eject media of Vault in a cross-platform
configuration. This operation was failing with vault log status "Invalid
command parameter".
Workaround:
Using the Java GUI (jnbSA), you can perform a Deferred Eject operation of
Vault.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET295588
Description:
When the eject step for a Vault session is partially successful, the media
that are ejected successfully are listed in the Non-vaulted Images report
for that session. With this fix, ejected media are no longer listed in the
Non-vaulted Images report.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET234558
Description:
Tapes can be ejected by the expiration date and not just alphabetically.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET271701
Description:
An incorrect STATUS_ROBOT_BUSY message caused the eject process to stay
active and idle, and prevented other Vault operations from running.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET234715
Description:
When doing a consolidated eject for a vault job that contains multiple
media types, all media are ejected, but only the media from one media type
are changed to the off-site volume group. The media from the other media
types remain in the robotic volume group.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET270191
Description:
Vault reports status 281 if a duplication job fails for a some of the
images. With this fix, the correct status code (1 - partially
successful) is reported.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET302164 ET287318
Description:
Vault can take an extremely long time to complete the media going off-site
reports if the NetBackup catalog is large. Vault searches the entire image
database to determine which images are on the ejected media.
You can limit the search range for images by specifying a start date for
the search. This can reduce the amount of time to generate reports
because Vault will search fewer image database records to determine which
images are on the ejected media.
To limit the search, create the following file and include in the file the
number of days before the profile runs to search for images to include in
media going offsite reports:
(UNIX) /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/VLT_MGO_RPT_IMG_INCL_WINDOW_START
(Windows) install_path\NetBackup\bin\VLT_MGO_RPT_IMG_INCL_WINDOW_START
The file should contain one number only; if the file is absent or its
contents cannot be read, Vault uses the default behavior (searching the
entire database).
Specifying a value does not affect whether media are ejected and
vaulted; however, if a volume is ejected that has an image on it older
than the period you specify, that image will not be listed on the media
going off-site reports.
Additional Notes:
This problem has been reported on Windows.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET270775
Description:
The IM filename format contains timestamp and the re-generation of IM
reports is not allowed. This fix changes the IM filename to the following
format: CustomerNumber_Vault_SID_C/V.IM.
In addition, the regeneration of IM reports is now allowed.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET234583
Description:
The lost media report does not report offsite tapes of a different media
type. In a scenario where a customer migrates from one media type to
another, the expiring offsite media of the old media type did not get
reported in the lost media report or the picklist for vault report.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET304362
Description:
In 5.1 the vlt_end_notify script runs BEFORE reporting.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET323171
Description:
Added a ovgetmsg message "Insert media into robotic MAP and press <RETURN>"
in vltopmenu.
It will help customers while injecting medias with vltopmenu.
Additional Notes:
Added new message - VltAdm0851N

=============
Etrack Incident = ET223024 ET200818 ET222663
Description:
Vault, when deciding if an image has already been duplicated, looks for
any image fragments already present in the destination volume pool.
Vault does not check if the fragment is of a valid copy.
Workaround:
To avoid this issue, run an Image DB cleanup session to ensure that invalid
image copies are deleted from the Image DB.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET261216
Description:
Vault reduplicates images if the duplication target is a disk storage unit.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET257361 ET256932
Description:
For duplication, Vault picks the first image copy on disk as the source
image for the copy operation. This can result in Vault ignoring the
primary copy on disk, which should be used as the source.
(All NetBackup Vault Servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET262866 ET261315
Description:
Vault does not handle "Disk Staging Storage Unit" source images like "Disk
Storage Unit" images for duplication.

Etrack Incident = ET213176
Description:
While setting dates for containers, even after identifying and
reporting "Invalid date:", vltopmenu continued to change the date.
This no longer occurs.
Additional Notes:
These are the guidelines for changing the date:
* If no year is provided then the current year is considered.
* The year (if provided) is interpreted as:
* two digit year yy 0-38 interpreted as 20yy
* two digit year yy 39-69 are illegal UNIX dates and will be converted
to 0 (which is 1/1/70)
* two digit year yy 70-99 interpreted as 19yy
* four digit year yyyy interpreted as it is
* dates before Jan 1 1970 are converted to Jan 1 1970
* dates after Jan 19 2038 are converted to Jan 19 2038
* It is considered valid to provide a date prior to the current date.

Etrack Incident = ET213084 ET211806
Description:
Running the Vault job from either a vltrun command or by right clicking on
the profile runs successfully. However, "status 23" results when running
the job from the Vault policy either manually or through bpsched.
Workaround:
If there is a directory or file, named "program", on the drive on which
NetBackup is installed (such as, Z:\Program.exe), then rename it to
something else.
(All NetBackup Servers: Intel-NT Intel64)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET212361
Description:
Tapes get suspended when NetBackup is upgraded from version 4.5 to
version 5.1 and the older vault profile (which does not want the tapes to
be suspended)is selected to run without being touched after the upgrade.
Workaround:
The workaround to resolve this problem is to open the following
file, /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA, and go to the Vault Management > "Your
robot type and number" > "your vault name". Then, select the profile name
in the right side of the interface. Next, right-click the profile name,
select change, and click on the Eject tab on the dialog box that appears.
You are now able to modify and change back any option, and click OK.
This will add the SuspendMode="NEVER" item (if this matches your selected
configuration) in the vault.xml file for the profile selected and resolve
the problem.
