How to schedule automatic updates using Live Update in Backup Exec 11d and above

The Live Update can be scheduled to check for
updates:
- Once
on a specific date at a specific time
- Every
day at a specific time
- Every
week on a specific day of the week and at a specific time
- Every
month on a specific day of the month and at a specific
time
Steps to schedule
automatic updates using Live Update :1. On the Tools menu, click
Options.2. On the properties pane, under Settings, click
Live
Update (Figure 1).

Complete the options as
follows:

| Enable scheduled automatic updates | Check Enable scheduled automatic updates to schedule |
| Automatically download and install all available updates | Select this option if you want Backup Exec to download and install all updates that are available without prompting you first. |
| Only notify me of available updates | Select this option if you want Backup Exec to alert you when updates are available. Updates are not downloaded or installed.This is the default option. If you select this option, you need to run LiveUpdate manually to download and install the available updates. |
| Once | Select this option to enable Backup Exec to check for new updates only on the date and time that you specify in the On and At fields. |
| Daily | every day. In the At field, enter the time to check for new updates." |
| Weekly | Select this option to enable Backup Exec to check for new updates once a week. In the Every field, select the day of the week on which to check for updates. In the At field, enter the time to check for new updates. |
| Monthly | Select this option to enable Backup Exec to check for new updates once a month. In the Every field, select the day of the month on which to check for updates. In the At field, enter the time to check for new updates. |
4. Click
OK.
Note: When the
automatic updates are scheduled through Backup Exec, the settings apply only to
updates for Backup Exec. Changes that are made to the Live Update schedule for
Backup Exec do not affect the schedule for any other software applications that
use Live Update.
