Catalog upload from Managed Media Server(s) (MMS) to Central Administration Server (CAS) in Backup Exec 10.x is not always successful on job completion.
Details:
In a CASO/SSO environment with one or more MMS/Secondary
servers and having the catalogs centralized (optional with CASO, and not the
default setting), the catalog file upload from the MMS to the CAS might not
complete successfully upon job completion. This can occur when a catalog file is
being copied up to the CAS from a MMS or from a SAN Shared Storage Option (SSO)
Secondary Server to the SSO Primary Server. In some cases the .fh catalog
file is only partially uploaded to the CAS or is missing entirely from the CAS.
In other cases the .img catalog file is missing from the CAS. In either
case, one or more backup set will be missing and there will be no restore
selection viewable for the affected backup set.
Note: There will
be no error indicating that this has happened. It can only be detected by
checking if there are any missing restore selections. This issue is more likely
to occur with backups having higher numbers of files &
directories.
The issue has been resolved in the TechFile referenced in
the Related Documents section below.
Please note that although SP1 for
BEWS 10.1 5629 includes Hotfix 19, but sometimes applying SP1 for 10.1 would not
resolve the above mentioned issue, under such circumstances, please install
Hotfix 19 separately.
