Device and Media Service fails to start if Backup Exec is cluster aware and installed on a SQL 2005 cluster
Details:
The Backup Exec services will startup successfully on each
node before clustering, but after running the cluster wizard, the group will
fail to come on-line due to the Device and Media service failure.
This
issue occurs when the SQL Browser service is set to NT Authority account. This
account does not have the proper permissions that are necessary for the Backup
Exec Device and Media service to
start.
WorkaroundChange the logon account for the
SQL Browser service from NT Authority to Local System using the SQL Server
Configuration Manager.
Bring
the Backup Exec group on-line using the Cluster Administrator.
