How to install this hotfix

There are two steps to complete the installation process.
1. The first step is to extract the installation source on the Backup Exec Media server.
2. The second step is to install the 64EX compatible agent on the remote servers; but this installation must be done locally at the remote servers as push installs are not supported for this agent.

TO EXTRACT THE INSTALLATION SOURCE ON THE BACKUP EXEC MEDIA SERVER

1. Download RAWSx64InstallMedia_280701.exe (the default name of this hotfix).

2. At the Backup Exec Media Server, double click RAWSx64InstallMedia_280701.exe to extract the installation source.

3. A small window will appear showing the progress of the extraction process; this will normally complete very quickly.

4. Once that small progress window has disappeared, then the extraction process has completed.

5. The hotfix will have extracted to C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\AGENTS\RANT64EX (By default).

6. Use the extracted files to install the 64EX compatible Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers.

Follow the steps in the section below to complete an installation of the Backup Exec Remote Agent For Windows Server on a computer running the Extended 64-bit operating system.

TO INSTALL THE 64EX COMPATIBLE AGENT ON THE REMOTE SERVERS

Follow the procedure below to install the Agent to each x64 machine:

1. On the remote x64 computer, map a drive letter to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers media server using the following path: \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Agents\RANT64EX (the scripts do not support UNC paths).

2. To install the Remote Agent, follow one of the next two steps:

For the Remote Agent Only:
a. Double-click setupaax64.cmd

For the Remote Agent and VSP (VERITAS Software Snapshot Provider) for AOFO (Advanced Open File Option):
b. Double-click setupaofox64.cmd

If it is necessary to install VSP for AOFO, and initially only the Remote Agent was installed (using setupaax64), then the setupaofox64 script can be used to add the VSP functionality.

Special installation instructions
