How to install this Service Pack
Installation on an existing CPS 10d server:
Symantec recommends that you backup your systems before proceeding.
1. Close Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server if open.
2. Download CPS 10d SP1 from the link at the bottom of this TechFile.
3. At each system running Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server, starting with the computer hosting the Backup Exec Continuous Protection Continuous Management Service (CMS), run CPS10dSP1.msp (this is the default name of Service Pack 1 when it is downloaded from the "Download Now" link).
4. Follow the instructions to completion in the installation wizard.
5. Even if a prompt requesting a reboot does not appear in the display, a reboot is required.
6. If the server being patch has the Admin console installed, the patch should be copied into the console deploy installation set so it will be included in any subsequent remote deployments. The steps are:
a) Open a file explorer and locate the deploy set (usually C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Continuous Protection Server\Install.
b) Copy the patch file CPS10dSP1.msp into the deployment directory.
c) Rename the patch file vre.msp.

Installation as part of a new CPS 10d server; installation in this manner will require only 1 reboot instead of 2 reboots:
Symantec recommends that you backup your systems before proceeding.
1. Rename the patch file (CPS10DSP1.MSP) to VRE.MSP.
2. Place the file in the Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server installation source directory; the folder where SETUP.EXE for Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server is located.
3. Run SETUP.EXE on the machine and the installer will automatically install the patch while doing the regular installation in one step.
