Software patch for VERITAS File System to install over the VRTSvxfs fileset.


Note: This is a controlled distribution patch. The fixes provided in this patch will be made generally available through a future patch. Contact Symantec Enterprise Technical Support to obtain RP2 for VERITAS File System 4.0 MP1


Patch Installation:
If the currently installed VRTSvxfs is below 4.0.1.0 level, you must upgrade VRTSvxfs to 4.0.1.0 level before installing this patch.

Before you install this patch, refer to TechNote  http://support.veritas.com/docs/269928 for the list of critical APARs required for VERITAS Storage Foundation (tm) pr  ucts on AIX 5.1 or 5.2. For AIX 5.3, you should upgrade to 5.3 at ML03. AIX maintenance levels and APARs can be downloaded from the IBM Web site:

Install the VRTSvxfs.4.0.1.2-incr.bff package if VRTSvxfs is already installed at fileset level 4.0.1.0. A system reboot is required after installing this package.

To apply the patch, first unmount all VxFS file systems, then enter these commands:

       # mount | grep vxfs
       # cd <patch_location>
       # installp -aXd VRTSvxfs.4.0.1.2-incr.bff VRTSvxfs
       # reboot

Additional Notes:

If you need to remove the patch, first unmount all VxFS file systems, then enter these commands:

       # mount | grep vxfs
       # installp -r VRTSvxfs 4.0.1.2
       # reboot
