Installation of the Remote Agent for Windows Servers to machines running the Lotus Notes Client causes the Lotus Notes Client to hang when opening.
Details:
This issue can
occur when the Backup Exec Remote Agent is pushed to systems with the Lotus
Client installed. In certain circumstances, the installation of the Remote
Agent for Windows Servers can prevent Lotus Client from loading. Service
Pack 1 for Backup Exec (tm) 10.0 revision 5520 contains a workaround for
machines that have only the Lotus Domino Client installed. Refer to the
Related Documents section and download and install the service pack to resolve
this issue. Please be sure to follow the post installation procedures in the
Special Notes section of this TechNote to complete the fix.

Remote Agent
for Windows Servers:
After
installing the service pack to the Backup Exec 10.0 media server, reinstall the
Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) to all of the remote computers protected
by Backup Exec by following the Remote Agent for Windows Servers installation
procedure in the Backup Exec Administrator's Guide.
For additional
installation instructions please refer to the installation information provided
for the service pack.
Special
Notes
After
installing this hotfix, the following registry key will be created on the Backup
Exec Server:
HKey_Local_Machine
| Software | VERITAS | Backup Exec | Engine | Domino | Enable Client
Support
The default
value for this registry key is 1, which allows the Lotus Domino Agent to back up
a local Lotus Client if installed. Modifying this key ONLY affects the system on
which the key is located. This key is not automatically created on remote
systems and as such must be created manually. Setting this registry key to 0
will disable the Lotus Agent on systems which contain the Lotus Client ONLY.
This registry key has no effect on a Lotus Domino Server. The addition of this
key is designed to work around the following issue: "Installation of Remote
Agent to Lotus Clients prevents Lotus Client from loading."
Warning:
Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system
from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a
Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons
experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended
that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making
any registry changes.
The workaround
for machines experiencing this issue which contain both the Lotus Domino Server
and Lotus Notes Client is to move the Lotus Notes Client to an alternate
machine.
