This
hotfix for VERITAS Backup Exec 9.0.4202 for NetWare Servers addresses the
security vulnerabilities described as:

This hotfix
requires the installation of the files from VERITAS Backup Exec 9.0.4202 for
NetWare Servers. These files must not be installed over any other release of the
Backup Exec for NetWare Server files.
These
vulnerabilities affect the Backup Exec for NetWare Servers Media Server, the
Remote Agent for NetWare Servers, and the Remote Agent for Windows
NT/2000. The patch must be installed on each affected system in order to
completely address these security vulnerabilities.
INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
======================================================================
Extract the files from this self extracting EXE to a temporary
directory. This directory is referred to as INSTALLDIR in the instructions
below.
NetWare Media
Server
Verify that the correct version of Backup
Exec for NetWare Servers has been installed. The SYS:\BKUPEXEC\VERSION.DOC
file should indicate the following:
Backup Exec for NetWare Servers
9.0 Build
636N04202
If it
does not, please download this version of Backup Exec from the VERITAS Support
web site and install it before proceeding.
Make sure that there are no operations in progress, and then shut down Backup
Exec for NetWare Servers with the BESTOP command at the server
console.
From a workstation, save off a
backup copy of the following existing files at the server:
SYS:\BKUPEXEC\NLMS\BEPSVR.NLM
SYS:\BKUPEXEC\NLMS\BESRVR.NLM
SYS:\BKUPEXEC\NLMS\NDMPD.NLM
Copy the files from INSTALLDIR\NetWare to the SYS:\BKUPEXEC\NLMS
directory.
Restart Backup Exec with the
BESTART command at the console.
Remote Agent for NetWare Servers
Verify that the correct version of Backup Exec for NetWare Servers has been
installed. The SYS:\BKUPEXEC\VERSION.DOC file should indicate the
following:

If it
does not, please download this version of Backup Exec from the VERITAS Support
Web site and install it before proceeding.

Remote Agent for
Windows NT/2000
First, verify that the correct
version of the agent is currently installed. Bring up the Services control
panel and look at the properties for the Backup Exec for Windows NT/2000
service. Note the "Path to executable" entry. It should be something
like:
C:\Program
Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\RANT\beremote.exe
This path will
be referred to as the RANT SERVICES FOLDER below.
Stop the Backup Exec for Windows NT/2000
Service.
Browse to the beremote.exe file in
the RANT SERVICES FOLDER. Right click on the beremote.exe file and choose the
"Version" tab. The File version should be 8.60.3923.0. If it is not,
please download and install the Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 from the Backup
Exec 9.0.4202 for NetWare Servers package that is available on the VERITAS
Support Web site before continuing.
Save off a backup copy
of the following existing files in the RANW SERVICES FOLDER:
BEREMOTE.EXE
NDMPCOMM.DLL
NDMPSRVR.DLL
Copy the files from INSTALLDIR\Windows to the RANT SERVICES
FOLDER.
Restart the Backup Exec for Windows
NT/2000 Service from the Services control panel.
