On attempt to connect to a remote XP workstation, Backup Exec hangs, and keeps prompting for user name and password.
Details:
This can happen because the new XP Firewall (included in
Service Pack 2 for Windows XP) is turned on.
More Info about the XP
Firewall:
The XP firewall
is a software security system that acts as a boundary between the network and
the outside world. Windows XP includes Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) that
can be used to restrict what information is communicated between the Internet
and your home or small office network. ICF also protects a single computer
connected to the Internet with a cable modem, a DSL modem, or a dial-up modem
since most of these devices do not include a built-in firewall.
Note: If
you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) your firewall is turned on
automatically.
