How to manually lock or unlock a robotic library via the Backup Exec (tm) User Interface

Details:
Many models of robotic libraries have a lock down function. This feature prevents users from opening the door on the library during backup operations or if they are not authorized to access the tape media. To manually unlock or lock the door to the robotic library via the Backup Exec User Interface, right-click on the first entry that shows under Robotic Libraries on the Devices tab, and select either Unlock or Lock (Figure 1).

To lock the robotic library's front panel

1 On the navigation bar, click Devices.

2 Select the robotic library.

3 Under Robotic Library Tasks in the task pane, select Lock.

4 Complete the appropriate options as follows:
Job name Type a name for the job or accept the default name.
Select the priority for the job.

5  Do one of the following:
To run the job now, click Run Now.
To set scheduling options, on the Properties pane, under Frequency, click Schedule.

An alternate method that can be used is to click on Lock or Unlock in the left task window under Robotic Library Tasks.

Note: Forcing a robotic library's door open without unlocking it properly via the Backup Exec Interface can cause the device to go offline in Backup Exec. The library and server must be powered up in the proper sequence after the device goes offline for Backup Exec to communicate properly with the hardware.
