Product Overview

Product Description:

VERITAS Storage Solutions are a group of products used for enterprise data management, data protection, failover, and high availability. VERITAS Storage Solutions 2.2 Maintenance Pack 2 is the release vehicle for  VERITAS Cluster Server (tm), VERITAS Foundation Suite (tm) and Foundation Suite (tm) HA 2.2 Maintenance Pack 2 (MP 2).

VERITAS Cluster Server provides an open systems clustering solution that eliminates both planned and unplanned downtime, facilitates server consolidation and failover, and effectively manages a wide range of applications in heterogeneous environments. VERITAS Cluster Server can function as a standalone high availability application and does not require VERITAS File System or VERITAS Volume Manager to operate.

If you have already installed VERITAS Cluster Server 2.2, you must upgrade your system to one of the following supported Linux operating system versions before
upgrading to VERITAS Cluster Server 2.2 Maintenance Pack 2:

   Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 2, Intel IA64 architecture
   Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 i686 (Update 2 optional but preferred)
   SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 (SUSE SLES8) with SP3
   VMware ESX 2.1

If you have already installed VERITAS Cluster Server 2.2 on RHAS 2.1 and will continue to use RHAS 2.1, you do not need to install this patch. Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1 does not require an update.

What scripts or command to use:

Cluster Server is installed using the Cluster Server installation script.

Before installing, read the top level VERITAS Storage Solutions 2.2 Maintenance Pack 2 Getting Started Guide, then read the product release notes, then read the product installation guide

If you are installing Foundation Suite HA, VERITAS recommends installing VERITAS File System (tm) first, then installing VERITAS Volume Manager (tm). Install and configure the Cluster Server cluster last. When uninstalling, remove Cluster Server first.
