How to go back to Tape Alert after setting up frequency-based cleaning on robotic drives
Details:
Many drives support Tape Alert, which signals when the
drive needs cleaning. VERITAS NetBackup (tm) then mounts a cleaning tape and
cleans the drive. If a tape drive has been set to clean after a specific number
of hours, NetBackup will mount a cleaning tape at the specified frequency,
regardless of whether or not a Tape Alert has been sent.
If you wish to
stop using frequency-based cleaning and strictly rely on Tape Alert, simply set
the frequency to 0 (zero) hours. NetBackup will then stop using frequency-based
cleaning and will instead use Tape Alert if the drive supports it.
There
is no option in NetBackup to use Tape Alert; NetBackup will always use Tape
Alert if it is supported by the hardware.
