"Unable to attach to one of the drives" error is reported while backing up remote systems
Details:
"Unable to attach to one of the drives" error is reported
while backing up a remote system, and the job log may also display "Error:
ffffdfc4 The job failed."
This error (Figure 1) can occur when the username or
password (of the remote system) that is associated with the logon account (on
the Backup Exec (tm) server) has been changed.

For example,
assume you are backing up a remote system named
client, using a Backup
Exec server named
server, and there is a user on
client named
"administrator," with "password" as the password.
A logon account in Backup
Exec was created with the account name "administrator" and password of
"password." This account was selected to connect to
client for backup
purposes.
For security reasons, the actual "administrator" password was
changed on
client. Now, when Backup Exec tries to use the logon account
created (as above), it will fail to connect because there is a mismatch between
the logon account created in Backup Exec and the account on
client.
To resolve this issue, modify the logon account on the
Backup Exec server to match with the username and password of the remote
system.
1. Open Backup Exec software
2. On the
Network
menu, click
Logon Accounts (Figure 2)

3. Highlight
the required account that is used to connect to the remote system and click
the

4. Click the

5. Create a
new job for the remote system to use this account
Apart from the
above, there are certain other conditions responsible for this error.
