Details:
This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for LSI E5600/E4600/E400 Arrays.  For general information about Array Support Libraries (ASLs) refer to TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile).
Package Name: LSI Logic Array Support Library
Package Version:08.40.00.03
Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager (tm): 3.2 and 3.5

At the bottom of this TechFile, click "Download Now" to download the ASL package, SMlsiasl_259105.tar.Z.

Before adding any ASL package, make sure VERITAS Volume Manager is installed and enabled (vxdctl mode command should return "enabled"):
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

WARNING: If installing on Solaris 9, then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib. Refer to TechNote 251706 for complete information (link available below under "Related Documents").

To install the package type:
# zcat SMlsiasl_259105.tar.Z | tar xvf -
# pkgadd -d ./SMlsiasl-SOL-08.40.00.03.pkg

After the package is installed, you must run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as a LSI array:
# vxdctl enable

After running vxdctl enable, you should see libvxlsiinf.so in output of vxddladm listsupport:
# vxddladm listsupport | grep lsi
libvxlsiinf.so A/P LSI INF-01-00

ASL below is excluded and will not claim any LSI Array as a part of pkgadd.   liblsiasl.so is a new ASL for LSI E5600/4600/4400 Array.
liblsiasl.so A/P LSI INF

Note:
To ensure proper operation, you should set timers in the Solaris disk drivers by running the command /opt/SM8/asl/set_lsi_array_timers.
Depending on the version of firmware your array is using,
a ) you may need to install the SMdmp package
 b)  use the SMcli /opt/SM8/dmp/dmp_setup.scr script to place the array in the proper mode for VERITAS dynamic multipathing (DMP) operation.
To get the SMcli and SMdmp packages please contact LSI Technical Support.

For additional information about ASLs, refer to "Installing an Array Support Library (ASL) Guide", TechNote 249325 (link in Related Documents section of this TechFile).
