This error can
be caused by the following conditions:
1. In the
SQL Redirection
properties, the incorrect server name has been specified in the
Restore
to server field or the server name specified is unavailable (while restoring
to a named instance).
The
Restore to server field is used to
redirect this restore to a different server. Enter the target server name in the
Restore to server field (Figure 2).

If the specified server name is available and is online,
check for the name resolution. The system should be able to resolve the name
specified in the Restore to server field.
2. In the
SQL Redirection properties, the instance name specified in the Restore
to named instance field is either unavailable or is specified incorrectly
(while restoring to a named instance).
3. In the SQL Redirection properties, the
instance name has been specified in the Restore to named instance field
(while restoring to the default instance)
To resolve this issue,
ensure that :
1. In the SQL Redirection properties, the instance
name specified exists on the specified server (while restoring to a named
instance) (Figure 2)
2. In the SQL Redirection properties, the
Restore to named instance field has been kept blank (while restoring to
the default instance) (Figure 2)
