How to install and uninstall the Advanced Open File Option to remote Windows servers from the command prompt

Details:

To install the Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) on a remote server from the Windows command prompt:

1. Go to a remote server or workstation.

2. Map a drive letter to the Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers media server RAWS32 directory using the following path:
\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32

3. At the command prompt, enter the mapped drive letter (see step 2)

4. Type setup.exe /AOFO: -s, and press <Enter>. The command also installs Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS), if not present on the target system

Note: The -s parameter is used to run the install operation in silent mode, without the user interface. The parameter -boot is used to automatically restart the  computer. To do this, add the -boot parameter. If this parameter has not been added to the command, ensure that the computer is manually restarted as per convenience to enable the Advanced Open File Option.

5. The Advanced Open File Option files are installed on the remote server in the following directory:
\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS

Note: The Advanced Open File Option installation log file can be located in

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\bkupinst.htm (windows xp/2003)
\ProgramData\Symantec\bkupinst.htm (windows 2008)

To uninstall the Advanced Open File Option on a remote server from the Windows command prompt:

1. Go to a remote server or workstation

2. Map a drive letter to the Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers media server RAWS32 directory using the following path:
\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32

3. At the command prompt, enter the mapped drive letter (see step 2)

4. Type setup.exe /AOFO: -s -u, and press <Enter>. The command also uninstalls RAWS from the system. If only RAWS is required to be installed, refer the Related Documents section of this TechNote.

Note: The -s parameter is used to run the operation in silent mode, without using the user interface. The -u parameter specifies an uninstall operation. The parameter -boot is used to automatically restart the computer. If this is desired, then add the -boot parameter. If this parameter has not been added to the command, ensure that the computer is manually restarted to disable the Advanced Open File Option.

The Advanced Open File Option is uninstalled from the remote server. After the uninstall process is completed, restart the system to disable the Advanced Open File Option.
