A list of supported tape drives and robotic libraries can be found at http://support.veritas.com/rd/bews-compatibility.htm.

Tape Device drivers

Symantec tape device and robotic library drivers for Backup Exec can be found at http://entsupport.symantec.com/UMI/v-269-10

OR

Symantec LiveUpdate can be run in version 11d and above of Backup Exec to install the tape device drivers:

Please Note: Driver downloads include drivers for all supported operating systems in a single file. There are no operating system specific downloads.

Device driver names

If the tape device connected to the Backup Exec server is supported and the most recent Symantec Device Drivers have been installed (see above), then the device driver will be listed as a device in the Microsoft Windows operating system. For Windows 2000, XP, and 2003:

1. Go to Start | Run
2. Type in "msinfo32"
3. Expand the Software Environment node
4. a. For Windows 2000, click on Drivers

b. For Windows XP and 2003, click on System Drivers
