No license is required to protect Windows Workstation computer operating systems prior to Windows Vista with the Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS)
Details:
Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Platforms do
not require a RAWS License, but RAWS must be installed on the machines to be
able to fully back them up. Windows Vista Machines require that RAWS be
installed on them and a RAWS License for each Vista Machine being backed
up.
Note: To protect a computer running Windows XP Home, the Backup
Exec Remote Agent must be installed locally (Silent Mode) to the Windows XP Home
computer. It cannot be push-installed to the Windows XP Home computer and the
push install may also fail on XP Pro because of security/firewall settings. The
procedure for the Silent Mode installation of the Remote Agent is given in the
Related Documents section. The Windows XP workstation must be part of a domain,
or guest-level share access must be disabled. Please refer to the Related
Documents section for more information regarding Windows XP and disabling of
force guest (guest-level share access).
