Files with a *.BKF extension are created during backups in the backup to disk folder. If the volume where the backup to disk folder resides reaches maximum capacity, during a backup job, the *.BKF file will be corrupted and must be deleted before it is used for backup or restore operations.

Data in the *.BKF file will not be accessible, for previous backup jobs too, that is; if the backup job which made the drive reach its maximum capacity was an append job, and there were previous successful backups done to this back to disk folder, then that data will not be accessible. For this reason, precautionary measures is recommended.

If using Windows 2000 server, disk quotas can be setup to warn administrators that the disk space is reaching low capacity on the backup server. This may help prevent the backup to disk folder from becoming corrupt due to a disk full condition. For more information regarding Windows 2000 disk quotas, see the Microsoft Article ID: KB183322 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183322
